The Waterworks is located 15 minutes from Coromandel Town. This small village, population about 1000 is situated in the Coromandel region, three hours from Auckland by car, and an hour from Thames. It's a fun and friendly town with a remarkably vibrant arts and crafts community, music concerts, drama group, schools, cafés, and restaurants.

Driving Creek Railway

A local potter, Barry Brickell set up a narrow gauge railway to go up his steep property to bring back clay for his pots and firewood for his kiln. Over the years so many friends and visitors all wanted to go for a ride on his train that he had to start charging them. Gold Stamper Battery

Visit a restored gold stamper battery – a processing plant for gold ore. This facility provides a fascinating glimpse into local history.
