Getting to the Waterworks
Getting to The Waterworks is an experience in itself. We are located along the 309 Road in the Waiau Valley.
The Waterworks is built on a five acres bounded by the Waiau River, Sally's Creek, and the 309 road. It is very rural, with no immediate neighbours so it is a very quiet, peaceful environment. It feels like miles from anywhere, but is actually only 12 minutes from Coromandel Town.
We recommend you visit us as part of a daytrip from Coromandel Town, Whitianga, Tairua or Thames. We are well signposted so don’t worry, you won’t get lost!
From Auckland via Thames
Drive up State Highway 25 along the west coast of the Coromandel Peninsula from Thames for about 50 minutes. The Thames Coast road
is one of the most attractive scenic roads in New Zealand. It has numerous Pohutukawa trees that flower crimson around late November to Christmas time.
About 4 km before you reach Coromandel Town turn right onto the “309” Road, follow the signs for 4.7km and you will find us.
From Coromandel Town
If you are coming from Coromandel Town, just head south toward Thames for 4 km until you cross the Waiau bridge, then turn left!
Either take the 309 Road from the east coast of the peninsula OR follow SH25 from Whitianga to Coromandel Town.
